Welcome to our spring 2020 edition. As we enter this season of blossoming flowers and the chance to spend more time outdoors, we highlight some of the steps our gardeners are taking to help lower our carbon footprint.
Peat-free compost and environmentally-friendly fuel are among the innovations they have introduced as they go about maintaining the wonderful green spaces around our homes.
Gardens are vitally important to our residents and provide a backdrop to many happy community events, especially in the spring and summer, when we welcome in visitors for fetes, festivals, music and theatre shows, dog shows and other joyful activities.
Our latest yearbook, available at www.ColtenCare.co.uk/photobook2019, is packed with vivid, colourful photos highlighting just some of the amazing experiences our residents enjoy both in our homes and gardens and out in the wider communities we serve.
It is precisely because of the care and companionship we provide that residents and their families give us such wonderful feedback. This is clear in the high ratings we see on the independent review site, Carehome.co.uk, covered in our lead story on the front page.
At the same time, we are shortly to host our third Colten Champions awards, an opportunity to thank our team members for their stellar work day in, day out. Once again, we have been blessed with hundreds of nominations for worthy winners from
across our homes. Of course, this means that deciding on a final shortlist in each category is far from easy, but that is the nature of awards.
I hope you enjoy your spring Chronicle. You can receive more information on individual homes by joining the mailing list for our quarterly community newsletters.
