Welcome to our Summer 2021 edition.

I’m sure I speak for everyone at our care homes and head office when I say how sad we were to hear of the passing of Colten Group Co-Founder Adrian Otten. He was very much loved and will be greatly missed by his family, friends and colleagues.

Our sincere condolences and sympathies go to Adrian’s family.

Even if you didn’t know Adrian, you will undoubtedly have a point of reference on his legacy. That’s because it was his vision, determination and energy, combined with that of his business partner John Colwell, that grew Colten Care into the successful care home provider it is today.

In this edition we have a focus on careers, and in particular the loyalty and commitment of our amazing nurses and healthcare assistants. They are a critical part of a Colten team, numbering nearly 2,000 people who together deliver exceptional nursing, dementia and residential care. But these roles would not exist in the first place without the business and that is all down to Adrian and John. Until Adrian stepped down as Co-Chairman in 2019, they had together navigated the journey of business growth in a strong partnership spanning nearly half a century.

When you consider that from small beginnings, Colten has grown to own and operate 21 care homes across the south, a third of which are rated Outstanding, I’m sure you will agree that Adrian had every reason to feel proud of his achievements. We are all greatly indebted to him.
