Putting experience to good use

The new Head of Care at our Abbey View care home is drawing on past experience to make a success of her new role.

Qualified nurse Mary-Ann Marsh joined our Sherborne-based home – which she describes as “lovely” – in the summer, after spending 14 years at Yeovil District Hospital.

“The staff and residents here have been really welcoming,” said Mary-Ann. “It’s a real change of pace.”

Her most recent post was in the hospital’s Frail Older Persons Assessment Service, and she pointed out how that experience was particularly useful for her latest role.

“I had heard great things about Colten Care,” she added. “It has an excellent reputation for care all along the south coast. Everyone is focused on doing the best they can for the residents – it’s a really good team.” [Working quotes for your convenience, Mary-Ann]

A keen reader, Mary-Ann is married with a nine-year-old daughter.

“I’m the treasurer for Yeovil District Swimming Club, which my daughter is a member of,” she said, “so I don’t have a lot of time for anything else!”
