Canford Chase in Poole has become the fourth Colten Care home to be officially rated Outstanding by care sector regulator the Care Quality Commission (CQC).
Our latest success follows top ratings awarded in the past year and half to Linden House in Lymington, Woodpeckers in Brockenhurst and Kingfishers in New Milton.
As in all its inspections, the CQC assessed Canford Chase across five criteria: being safe, effective, caring, responsive and well led.
The 19-page report singled out staff for particular praise, highlighting how people “were treated with kindness, respect and compassion”.
Other comments included:
- “Care was planned and delivered in line with current good practice and standards. Standards of nursing care were very high.”
- “A vibrant activity programme based on people’s hobbies, interests and wishes and tailored to their individual needs.”
- “A positive, person-centred, open and inclusive culture.”
- “Staff were motivated in their work and proud of the service. Staff turnover was low.”
Mark Aitchison, Chief Executive of Colten Care, said: “An Outstanding rating is the CQC’s highest possible grade.
“Having four of our inspected homes officially declared as Outstanding – with the 16 others rated Good – proves once again that we are the UK’s highest rated care home provider for our size.
“This is a fantastic achievement and a tribute to the passion, commitment and dedication of our team.”
