Helen Smith’s focus as the new Home Manager of Wellington Grange in Chichester is to take an already strong home and make it even better.
Hailing from the south west, Helen has been both a Home and Operations Manager at various private care home companies for the past 15 years. Before that she was an Accident and Emergency Sister at the Musgrove Park Hospital in Taunton, Somerset. She also had four years’ experience working in emergency admissions at an Australian hospital.
“I was interested in working for Colten Care because of its reputation and I am really pleased to have joined,” says Helen, who relocated to Hampshire four years ago. “Wellington Grange is very close to where I live and I know West Sussex well, having worked with all the community health partnerships and commissioning groups in the area.
“My focus is to take a very good home and make it Outstanding. I want to build on the great work that is already being done and ensure residents have happy, fulfilling lives.”
It’s important for Helen to know that her clinical skills are up to date. To that end, she still does four shifts a year in the Accident and Emergency department of Queen Alexandra Hospital, Portsmouth.
Outside work, Helen enjoys cycling, kayaking, sailing and travelling. She has two daughters, both at university.
