MAY: Glorious blossom at our competition-winning home, The Aldbury

They are tranquil, living spaces where you can find peace and quiet, meet friends, look out for wildlife and even maintain those green fingers.

To help celebrate our residents’ passion for gardens and gardening, we held a photo competition to capture a year of changing seasons in the beautiful outdoors at our homes. We invited residents, Activities Organisers and Gardeners to take and send in pictures every month during 2015.

The idea, from Head Gardener Charles Hubberstey, was designed to result in an online photographic record showing the variety of flora and fauna we all enjoy. There was also the added incentive of garden centre vouchers for the winner and runner-up. In the end, The Aldbury in Poole was declared the winner with Braemar Lodge in Salisbury coming in second.

Charles said: “Our warmest thanks go to all who took part in the competition. The Aldbury won because of their delightful photos that truly caught the fauna and flora of the gardens. A tiny robin in the gardener’s hand, the slow worm coming out of the compost heap, another robin at home in the potting shed, all accompanied by genuine words from those who took the photos.”

Our garden gallery may be viewed at www.ColtenCare.co.uk/gardeningPhotoCompetition. Copies are also available in our homes’ receptions. Here are just a selection of the beautiful images captured at our homes through the seasons.
