The Champions are back! We have opened the call for entries for our fantastic in-home awards, designed to honour and reward those shining stars who contribute to residents’ care every day.
Across eight separate categories, Colten Champions celebrates individuals and teams delivering excellence in nursing, care, resident engagement and other areas in which we continually go above and beyond.
Residents, families and colleagues can nominate worthy winners as we begin the countdown to a glittering awards ceremony at the Highcliff Marriott Hotel in Bournemouth on 22 September 2022.
First held in 2018, interest in Colten Champions grew quickly with more than 1,000 nominations submitted the following year. Inevitably, we had to scale back the initiative during the pandemic but we hope this year it will be bigger than ever.
Speaking after he hosted the last in-person awards ceremony, attended by colleagues from across our homes, TV doctor Hilary Jones said: “This was a happy, memorable occasion that truly reflected the importance of quality delivered consistently by a team working together for the benefit of residents.
“Everyone was pleased to take part and found it genuinely rewarding to be there.”
One of our residents, Dennis Johnson, also said at the time: “It is wonderful to live in a care home where management are prepared to celebrate and reward staff for all that they do for us. Having an awards initiative such as Colten Champions is a superb way to recognise and honour our amazing carers and all the others at the home who contribute to our wellbeing.”
Our Chief Executive Mark Aitchison said: “Colten Champions showcases so many amazing examples of our team supporting and caring for residents in ways that are so much more than ‘just a job’. Their pride and passion for putting the resident at the heart of all they do really stands out.”
