Helping our communities

Welcome to the spring Chronicle. I’ve highlighted before how ongoing community engagement makes a real positive difference to the lives of our residents. In this edition we describe some of the ways we have continued to help residents stay in touch and play a role in their communities despite the challenges of the pandemic.

Homes have prepared and sent hundreds of much needed gifts to help the Rotary Club alleviate some of the pressure on children experiencing poverty. We have gathered food items and made donations to support food banks in our areas and carried out ‘random acts of kindness’ to brighten up people’s days as they go about their business. Before we emerged into spring, we also did our bit to help neighbouring companies and organisations chase the winter blues away with surprise deliveries of afternoon tea hampers brought with a smile and a song – and all in aid of charity.

None of these activities would be possible without the creativity and dedication of our team working together to make every day a meaningful, joyful one for our residents. It is entirely fitting therefore that another key focus of this edition is to invite you to nominate worthy winners for Colten Champions. I am absolutely thrilled that our very own in-house awards, so popular in the past, can return with an in-person awards evening once again. First held in 2018, then again in 2019 and unfortunately scaled back during the pandemic, Colten Champions is a wonderful way to celebrate all the fantastic work that our team do on behalf of our residents. We have agreed all the categories for this year, the call for entries is now open and the awards evening is scheduled for September. I heartily encourage you to put in a nomination which you can do online at
