Celebrating our teamwork

Welcome to the winter Chronicle. It is always heartening to receive external recognition of the consistently high standards of care we provide for our residents every day. This winter we have a national award to celebrate, with Kingfishers winning the Care Team of the Year category at the National Care Awards. This is a truly fantastic achievement to cherish and be proud of. We are also thrilled that Braemar Lodge was a finalist in the category for Dignity and Respect Care Home of the Year.

We deliberately chose to enter these specific awards because they focus on teams. Given the challenges of the last 18 months or so, it was an ideal way to honour and reward everyone’s contribution to care excellence. I congratulate team members across all our homes, and those in our group-wide support roles who work tirelessly to help them, on an amazing success.

The National Care Awards came just a few weeks after we had fun celebrating our latest Carehome.co.uk scores with a series of themed parties staged in great style. All credit to our teams for coming up with imaginative ideas from Gatsby to the Oscars to safaris.

In this edition we also reflect on our long-standing presence in our many communities, focusing on what was a splendid 30th anniversary party at our Blandford home Whitecliffe House. Like all our homes, Whitecliffe House has continued to deliver outstanding care throughout the pandemic even though community engagement has been difficult.

As we do our best to navigate our way out of this challenging period, the restoration and strengthening of those essential community bonds around all our homes will be a top priority. Community engagement is an essential aspect of what we do as one team to make a difference to the lives of our residents.
