A glitzy 1920s-style ‘Great Gatsby’ party, a red carpet ‘Oscars’ ceremony and a ‘safari’ day were among the themed events marking our latest, independently posted ratings on Carehome.co.uk.

Five of our 21 homes – Kingfishers in Hampshire and Bourne View, Castle View, Abbey View and Whitecliffe House in Dorset – currently score the maximum ten out of ten.

Nine homes have achieved 9.9, five have made 9.8 and one 9.7.

Carehome.co.uk publishes independent reviews of thousands of homes across the UK posted by residents and relatives.

An average rating from individual posts is coupled with the volume of reviews in the past two years to arrive at each score.

The individual home scores contribute to an overall 9.9-out-of-ten group rating for Colten Care, making us one of the UK’s top 20 large care home groups based on more than 1,450 reviews.

Giving her view of the staff at Kingfishers, resident Sheila Root said: “We have a wonderful team here.

“They all work so hard. They are cheerful, always smiling and they typically suggest nice things to do rather than wait for us to ask.”

And speaking at the Great Gatsby party at Wellington Grange in Chichester, resident Joan Malcolm said: “Wellington Grange is a great home because it is well kept by all the lovely staff, is homely and the staff are all so friendly and caring.”

Reflecting the opinions of staff, Hayley McEvoy, Customer Support Advisor at Avon Cliff in Bournemouth, said: “To see the smiles and happiness in each of the residents makes my job worthwhile.”
