Bringing joy with music

Welcome to our spring 2021 edition. We have strengthened our focus on companionship to keep providing a broad range of activities and choices for residents, delivering them in imaginative ways so we can navigate the constraints of the pandemic.

Residents have continued to enjoy regular celebrations such as birthdays and Valentine’s Day along with fantastic new experiences such as a Zoom dance session with Strictly professional dancer Robin Windsor.

We have deliberately invested in new Companionship Team members with the ability to perform and entertain. They include Nicky Stevens, a singer from the Eurovision winning band Brotherhood of Man, and Sam Hurst, a guitarist and singer who has worked with residents to produce a music video for a Covid-themed song he wrote called ‘Hands, Face and Space’.

We have boosted our team strengths because we know just how powerful and valuable companionship is for people’s daily living. The past year has heightened the need for a renewed focus on activities, companionship and experiences because of the lack of opportunity for face-to-face contact with loved ones.

In wider community activities, we report on our initiative to provide pamper and goodie hampers for those heroic frontline staff working in our local hospitals’ intensive care units. We all need some pampering from time to time.

We continue to receive much praise from residents and families for doing our best to keep people safe during this terrible pandemic. We
report on some of their comments in this edition and we thank everyone who continues to write to us. We will always put our residents at the very heart of everything we do and your recognition of that commitment is very much appreciated.
