Barbara Harris, the new Home Manager at Avon Reach in Mudeford, is a familiar face having worked with us for six years.
She was in general nursing with the NHS and the charity sector for 27 years and had her first taste of Colten Care at a training day at Canford Chase in Poole.
“I knew it was a great company to work for and very supportive of their staff,” said Barbara.
When a night-nurse post came up at Kingfishers in New Milton, Barbara leapt at the chance to join.
She was later promoted to Head of Care and then Acting Home Manager at Kingfishers before moving to Avon Reach.
“I’m very excited about my new role,” said Barbara. “I already knew Avon Reach from training sessions we’ve done in the past and always found it a wonderful home to visit. Working for Colten Care is like working for an extended family as I know so many people here. Expectations are always high for a Home Manager and we will always look to improve what we do. Personally I’d like us to achieve an outstanding CQC report – no pressure! I also want to help the team complete their Gold Standards Framework accreditation, something they are already working towards. It’s another way we can demonstrate high-quality care.”
