Barbara Harris has been the Home Manager at Avon Reach in Mudeford since July 2015. She was previously Acting Manager at Kingfishers in New Milton which recently gained two major accolades: Gold Standard Framework accreditation and an ‘outstanding’ caring grade from the Care Quality Commission.

Barbara lives in New Milton, has been married for 28 years and has two teenage sons and a dog. Outside work, she has been a committed blood donor over many years. By age 50, she had donated 100 units of blood in three-monthly visits to the transfusion service.

Career history: I started my general nurse training a week before my 18th birthday and have worked in lots of areas from paediatrics to theatre scrub nurse. I am lucky enough to have worked with lots of inspiring and amazing people in high quality nursing care during my working life of 27 years in the NHS and now nine in the private sector.
