Claire Jackson, new Home Manager at our Bournemouth home Avon Cliff, has 25 years’ experience in healthcare, including management roles in learning disability and older people’s services.
Before focusing on healthcare, she gained a media degree from Bournemouth University and worked as a project manager for a TV production company in London and as a BBC researcher.
“I decided that my real passion is caring for people,” she says. “And I wanted to make a real difference, so I subsequently changed my career.” She initially took roles as a Health Care Assistant and an Auxiliary Agency Nurse and achieved new qualifications while working her way up the management ladder.
Claire was previously the Registered Manager for a domiciliary care service, who were the first homecare service in Dorset to achieve the Outstanding rating from CQC. This was followed by a second and improved Outstanding rating two years later. Claire and her team became known for their innovative practice that always went that extra mile for clients and her blog was featured in the Skills for Care, Good and Outstanding Care Guide.
When looking for a new role, Claire knew she wanted to join Colten. “I found that people at Colten share the same passion, drive and values that I have.”
Claire aims to continue Avon Cliff’s high standards and enhance its reputation, ensuring the home, like her, is known for going ‘above and beyond’. “The residents, staff and I want to make Avon Cliff a community hub for people who are socially isolated,” she says. “I strive to ensure that the care and quality of life here at Avon Cliff is not only outstanding but exceeds expectations and hopefully brings a little bit of sunshine into the lives of all who stay and visit here.”
Lancashire-born newly-wed Claire enjoys snowboarding, surfing, pilates, circuit training, travel and history.
